Our Process

Step 1: Discover and strategy

In this step we get to know you and everything about you. Well not everything, just the cool stuff about your project. Discover is defined as: find (something or someone) unexpectedly or in the course of a search.” So that boils down to questions and answers for us. We need to fully understand the project at hand and the scope of work to be completed. This will help us serve you better and ultimately produce better work.

Strategy is all about research for us. Just a few common questions we ask during this phase:

  1. What are your competitors doing good?
  2. Who is your target audience?
  3. What are your goals?

We spend a great amount of time in the first step to make sure that we are placing our clients in the best position to be successful.

Step 2: Design

Using what we have gathered and learned from step one, we implement a design plan. We start off with wireframes, pencil and paper. We aren’t simply designing a user interface that looks good. We design an interface that will help accomplish our client’s goals.

Once we have a direction that we feel best suits our clients goals and reaches the target audience. We present those wireframes to our client for feedback. That feedback is then taken into discussion and edits are made. Once our clients are happy with the wireframes, we move into Photoshop. Photoshop is the tool we use to design our mockups, that we will present to our clients for final review. A mockup is exactly how your website will look when we finish out the development stage of our process.

Step 3: Development

This step is the nerdy step. We take the approved designs and build them into interfaces and user experiences that work. We code out the design mobile first, then move to the rest of the modern screen sizes. We use the best coding standards and write HTML, CSS, JS and PHP.

Once the website is fully coded out and works on all devices, we move onto the CMS implementation. Most all sites we do have a need for content management. We are big fans of Craft CMS, in our opinion it’s the most accessible and friendly content management system on the market. We code templates that interact with the database to pull content in dynamically. This way a user can access a UI that is easy to use and update their content on the website with ease.

In this step we focus on things like site speed, mobile-responsiveness, browser compatibility etc. We write good clean code that always works. We also integrate google analytics into each website to track how many visitors hit your site, where they are coming from and what they do when the are on your website.

Step 4: Search Engine Optimization

Let’s get your business found! Their are two types of search, organic and paid. Organic is what we will focus on here, we use the best practices to allow your website to rank high in search engine result pages. A quick note on paid search. Paid search is when an organization pays for higher rankings and placement in search engines. It’s a guaranteed way to get results if you have the budget. It’s highly recommended, but we focus on doing everything organically to have you ranking high.

Some of the variables that search engines take into consideration when providing results based on a search are: keywords, site speed, location of search and accurate information. We focus on all of those and more. We optimize your website with keywords, content, tags, site architecture and more.

Once we have everything completed and looking good we will deliver your assets to you. The site will be launched based on an agreeable deadline between Palmetto Interactive and the client. We provide a free one hour training session on your content management system. We also provide a maintenance contract option where we take care of everything for you.
